Nigeria's health ministry says it has confirmed a new case of Ebola in Lagos, bringing the total number of people with the virus to 10- up from seven at the last count. But only two so far have died, including the Liberian who brought the virus in, the health minister said on Monday.
All were people who had had primary contact with Patrick Sawyer, who collapsed on arrival at Lagos airport on July 25and later died, Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu told a news conference.
Nigeria, along with Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone have been scrambling to contain the virus, but weak medical and sanitation infra structures present challenges. Guinea announced Saturday it is closing its borders with Liberia and Sierra Leone.
