
The judge Thokozile Masipa sentenced the athlete at Pretoria’s High Court and was also given given a 3-year suspended sentence for a firearms charge, with reports gathered from CNN.

His conviction was inflicted for the charge of culpable homicide, which in South Africa law, it signifies a soul was killed accidentally, but unlawfully. The judge ruled a non-custodial sentence in order not to send the wrong message to the society but it was seasoned with mercy.
The sentence had sought a 10-year jail term, the defense counsel has requested for him to be put under house arrest for three years and perform community service.
