The South African athlete Oscar Pistorius served 5 year jail term

After so much invested in this case, Oscar Pistorius, the South African athlete who killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013, has finally been told to answer a 5 year jail term in prison.

The judge Thokozile Masipa sentenced the athlete at Pretoria’s High Court and was also given given a 3-year suspended sentence for a firearms charge, with reports gathered from CNN.

His conviction was inflicted for the charge of culpable homicide, which in South Africa law, it signifies a soul was killed accidentally, but unlawfully. The judge ruled a non-custodial sentence in order not to send the wrong message to the society but it was seasoned with mercy.
The sentence had sought a 10-year jail term, the defense counsel has requested for him to be put under house arrest for three years and perform community service.
