#Throw back# Vitals of Role Models on Youths

THE BEST OF ROLE MODELS
“Bill Gates is my role model”, “Obama is who I wish to be”, “I love Dbanj”; these are words of so many youths who wants to be successful like these men.
According to Advance Learner’s Dictionary; “A role model is a person whom someone admires and whose behavior they try to copy”. The issue of role model is something that needs to be put into consideration, when we talk of the development of a youth. To procure a better tomorrow as a youth, your role models must be selected properly. A youth can have more than one role model; the default there is how to select the ones that suits you. Some people may say “how role models do affects the future of a person?” continue reading this article and get a wider horizon about it. Let’s consider some of these important personals that serve as role models for youths, and get how they can pose changes to your mind-set about your future.

Bill Gates an icon in computer world. Most youths tends to know a little about this man, due to his exploit in the world of computer. There is one interesting issue about his biography that I need to discuss with you. The parents of Bill Gates wanted him to study Law, in-fact he has started studying Law. But his interest for computer made him spent most of his time in a computer institute. At that time, there was no personal computer (PC); because the computers present then were too large and expensive for an individual to buy. With all these circumstances, Bill Gates strived to pose a change to the computer world. He never minded the interest of others but followed his passion; this act of him brought him fame and wealth. Today, he is known as the second richest man in the world and one time the richest. Viewing this scenario, a youth that wants to attain greater heights must be ready to discover your interest (talents) and follow it squarely, without considering obstacles. The later must surely come your way, but the passion you have for your talent must not die. Instead, use those obstacles as a medium of adding value to it. “Talent DBP (discovering, building and professionalizing your in-built talents) is an article that will help you deal with obstacles and also discover those talents for you”.
Adof Hitler another icon of this world. He was a man of war, an orator. Though he is late now, he will always live in the heart of men when his name is mentioned. A brief history; he was a soldier, who wanted the Germans to take-over world power then. You may say he failed, but there is something I want to bring to your notice. He was an orphan and wasn't taking care of. At age 14, he was catering for himself with his artistic works. By then, he was an artist taught by no-one. He later joined the army, and grew to what he was known for. “Can you see what took him to a greater height?” For me “hard work”; Despite all was not working for him at a tender age; he strived to get there with Intelligence. Youths of nowadays tends to neglect all these virtues and only wish to get there. Hard work and Intelligence is also an important part of your development as a youth.
More so, there are so many good things to learn from your role models, not only saying they are your role models. “The best of role models” will be on its way back in the next edition of YOUTH FOCUS. Role models are integral part your development.
